XJTLU School of Film and Television Arts

On the South Campus of Xi’an Jiao Tong Liverpool University in Suzhou, China, this 34,400 SF International School of Film and Television Arts was designed as a high-standard professional educational building. The GF team worked with XJTLU to uphold the university’s mission that is committed to the improvement of higher education and the exploration of new models for higher education in China. The facility encourages students to contribute to the open exhibition space to display and express their creative work.

The building features a unique free-form roof that extends out over the edge of the building, which allows both students and visitors to make use of the shared outdoor public space. The all-glass-façade illuminates the development’s reception hall and compliments the contemporary style. Overlooking the lobby is the grand staircase that provides spacious seating for students and connects to the cinema, film production studios, and post-production facilities, all with state-of-the-art equipment.

Professor Adam Mcllwaine, dean of the School of Film and Television Arts said:

“The new building will not only provide great facilities for our students working in television, filmmaking and the digital media arts, but will also act as a cultural hub for promoting moving image arts in the region. The building is further enhanced by the local environment,” he continued.

“Suzhou and the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) where XJTLU is located is a blend of the old, the new, and the future, and will be the perfect canvas for filmmakers.”
