The client required that all buildings no matter what program type share architecture language. Gently sloping walls help connect different types of buildings from retail to hotel Stone and glass are used in different ways to diffuse intense sunlight in this part of China.
The Shopping Mall was imagined with the original organic nature of the building site in mind. GreenbergFarrow introduced bold rectilinear forms that tie back visually to the towers. By doing this, it complemented the rectilinear nature of the towers and the project to read as a “whole”. The entry is pronounced as a welcoming recess from the activity on the plaza. The use of Rich materials suggests sophistication and compliments the luxury brands located within the mall open plaza space. The towers feature dual skin systems which work in contrast to create visual interest. First is a curtain wall system with integrated lights bars which act to express the towers verticality while creating a spectacle at night. The other half of the towers uses a window wall system that is inset from the slab. This contrasts the later system by expressing the horizontal while at the same time providing the opportunity for balconies.
