The Binjiang Plaza Development is located in Binjiang, Hunan Province. GreenbergFarrow designed the 350,000 sf complex which consists of 170,000 sf of office, 150,000 sf of hospitality, and underground parking. To provide our client with the greatest building envelope potential GreenbergFarrow designed the building vertically, and implemented a dynamic façade system to give the building a powerful presence. The façade is a window wall system that is broken down into 3 floor sections. Only 3 panel sizes are used throughout the entire façade to reduce costs. These panels have been implemented in a staggered pattern that appears to have a varied appearance to allow for a variety of natural light to disperse through the office spaces. These staggered panels also keep the façade from appearing static. On the main corner of the site, a vertical and volumetric building element is introduced that begins on the lobby level and stretches upward to culminate in an dynamic roof lit cube facing the water. To increase visibility of the tower in the evening, a vertical pattern lighting system is implemented that integrates into the façade. This would allow the building to serve as a beacon for pedestrians in the surrounding riverbank area.
